Quick facts

What is the Woodpecker AP-H?

The Woodpecker AP-H is a standalone tabletop air polisher — a single-function chair-side device dedicated to delivering compressed air, water and a fine cleaning powder for supragingival biofilm and stain removal. Unlike the combined tabletop PT-E, the AP-H does not integrate an ultrasonic scaler. It's the right pick when your operatory already has scaling covered and you only need to add air polishing capability.

Powders and consumables

The AP-H runs glycine and sodium bicarbonate. The Woodpecker-branded "Super Powder" sold in Europe is a glycine formulation, not erythritol. EMS holds the European patent on erythritol air polishing powder — that means non-EMS devices sold in the EU, including the AP-H, are not validated for erythritol. Outside Europe the situation varies; confirm with the local distributor before assuming compatibility with any specific powder.

What to ask the distributor

Frequently asked questions

Can the AP-H do subgingival air polishing?

Subgingival capability depends on the specific SKU and whether a validated subgingival nozzle is included. Confirm in writing with the distributor before purchase. For dedicated subgingival biofilm work, dedicated devices like the EMS Perioflow (part of the EMS Airflow Prophylaxis Master) or the NSK Perio-Mate are designed specifically for that application.

How does AP-H compare to Acteon's standalone air polishers?

Both target the standalone air polisher segment. Acteon has a longer European track record and deeper EU distribution; Woodpecker is typically more competitive on headline price. The decision often comes down to local distributor service depth.

Is the AP-H CE-marked / FDA-cleared?

Certifications vary by SKU and country. Ask the distributor for the exact regulatory status of the specific AP-H model they're quoting.
